Riley McDermott, Reader

He practises in a broad range of commercial disputes, predominately in the areas of insolvency and construction. 

Prior to his call to the bar, Riley was a Senior Associate in commercial dispute resolution, insolvency and construction at a Queensland based mid-tier. Riley has acted for large corporates, liquidators and directors, along with a broad array of private clients. 

Riley has consistently acted for principals and contractors advancing and defending adjudication applications under the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017 (Qld).

Riley holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from the Queensland University of Technology. He regularly participates in insolvency industry events, and he is a three-time winner of the Women and Insolvency and Restructuring Queensland “Great Debate”.
